San Joaquin Delta College is part of the California Community College education system, the largest system of higher education in the world. An award-winning technological innovation leader in the California education community, Delta was one of a group of institutions commissioned by the Foundation for California Community Colleges to evaluate enterprise resource planning systems to determine which might best meet their needs.

As a leading public research institution, the University of Arizona must comply with significant and complex accounting and reporting requirements imposed by granting and government agencies. A number of years ago, the U of A recognized that their current system was not meeting departmental and institutional needs, and a change was required. Indiana University approached U of A about joining a consortium composed of innovation leaders in the higher education community, for the purpose of developing a software program called Kuali, an ERP system built to specifically address the business needs of higher education.

Kapio'lani Community College in Hawaii needed to add new online learning opportunities for its diverse and scattered student population two years ago. They found an open-source application, piloted it, and now are ready for the next phase. Authentic learning is real-world learning that students demonstrate through their ePortfolios.
